The Master of Defence and Security Studies (MDSS) via matriculation is designed specifically for graduates who successfully obtained their Graduate Diploma of Defence and Security Studies by Coursework (equivalent to Command and Staff Course) at Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces, who wish to pursue their further studies at Master level. MDSS is a graduate programme by coursework offered at the Institute of Policy Studies, Universiti Brunei Darussalam. The duration of this programme is 12 months on full-time basis, or 24 months on part-time basis.

All candidate must pass all modules listed below and accumulate 46 modular credits:

KD-5101 Foundation Studies (4 MC)

KD-5102 International Security Studies (4 MC)

KD-5103 Asia Strategic Environment Studies (4 MC)

KD-5104 Command, Leadership and Management (4 MC)

KD-5105 Defence Policy and Strategic Programming (4 MC)

KD-5106 Operational Planning (6 MC)

KP-5118 Research Methodology (4 MC)

KD-5107 Research Exercise (16 MC)

*For graduates CSC9 (Year 2019) onwards, they only need to register and pass one module KD-5107. Other modules are qualified for credit transfer.
