Thursday, 20th February 2020 – Institute of Policy Studies (IPS), Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and Brunei National Energy Research Institute (BNERI) jointly organised The Role of Hydrogen in ASEAN’S Energy Transition Seminar-Roundtable, in collaboration with Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) and with the support from Ministry of Transport and Infocommunication. The seminar was held at the Meeting Room 1-3, The Empire Hotel.
The seminar was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mat Suny Bin Haji Mohammad Hussein, Minister of Energy. Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo Bin Sokiaw, Deputy Minister of Energy, Yang Mulia Tuan Haji Azhar Bin Haji Yahya, Permanent Secretary, & Yang Mulia Pengiran Haji Jamra Weira Bin Pengiran Haji Petra, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Energy were also in attendees. In present, Yang Mulia Mr Hiroshi Abe, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Japan in Brunei.
Participants comprised representatives from ASEAN delegates, various government agencies, academics and key stakeholders in the energy and building sector.
The aim of the workshop was to facilitate discussion on the Role of Hydrogen, that cover around its utilisation, benefits in transportation and renewable energy sectors.
A key highlight was the sharing of preliminary results during the roundtable discussion shared by ASEAN delegates from Indonesia, Malaysia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, Myanmar and Singapore.
