Institute of Policy Studies participated in the UBD Hari Raya Aidilfitri Celebration

On Saturday 8 July 2017, the Institute of Policy Studies participated in the UBD Hari Raya Aidilfitri Celebration along with other faculties and institutes. The event was held at the Extension Building of the Institute of Health Sciences, from 11am to 2pm. It drew over 500 students, staff, and friends of UBD together to celebrate the festive month of Syawal. Present as Guest of Honour at the event was the Minister of Education, Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, along with other members of senior management from the Ministry of Education and UBD.

The theme for this year’s celebration was ‘Balik Kampong’, or ‘Returning to the Village’. IPS together with the Centre of Advanced Research (CARe), the Centre for Advanced Material and Energy Science (CAMES), the Centre for Life-long learning (C3L), the Faculty of Integrated Technologies (FIT), the Institute of Asian Studies (IAS), the Language Centre (LC), and the Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC), combined to set up a booth as well as a photobooth with decorations in “small villages” style. With ten more booths from other faculties and institutes, serving different specialty dishes like ketupat, nasi bakar, lemang and other Malay and international delicacies, the event created a harmonious, warm, and friendly atmosphere; reminiscent of a return to the comforts of one’s home.

In addition, there were competitions on the best dishes and best booth during the day. The winners of this year are the Office of Planning and Event Management (OPEM) with their dishes Nasi Ulam Daging Rendang and the Education and Technology Centre (ETC) respectively.

Selamat Hari Raya & Maaf Zahir dan Batin from us at IPS.
