Public Policy’s Role in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals

Public Policy's Role in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals

Introduction

In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all. Public Policy’s Role in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals is expected to be authored by various esteemed researchers, policymakers, and academics from a multidisciplinary perspective. The emphasis of the book is on quality research-based studies that contribute to theory, lessons learned, best practices, critical understanding, and policy implications or formulation on SDGs in any country. General progress reports on SDGs from governments, public policy, and administration that fit the book's theme are welcome. The submitted chapters will be subject to the standard refereeing and editorial processes of the publisher.

Objective

This edited book aims to support the acceleration required for the implementation of the SDGs by mobilizing the academic community, policymakers, industry, and civil society to discuss experiences focusing on the SDGs and their implementation in the context of public policy, administration, and governance deemed most important for world regions. Thus, the book will have a global discussion while also addressing the SDGs in a way that takes into consideration the specificities of each region.

Target Audience

The book is aimed at academia and researchers from a range of academic fields, including social sciences, arts and humanities, sociology, politics, and the broader interdisciplinary fields of business and economics. This book will become a main source for policymakers, corporations, and NGOs. Government bodies and policymakers, research centres, think tanks, non-governmental organisations, and university libraries around the world require credible references on the implementation of the SDGs, particularly in policy and administration.
